Why Small Groups?

Fellowship

Sunday is a chance for everyone in the church to come together and worship the Lord as one large community. However, deep friendships do not usually get fostered through meeting on Sunday alone. The primary purpose of a small group is to foster a deeper level of Christian friendship, love, commitment and accountability and hopefully have some fun also!

Spiritual Growth

Through meeting together Christians will not only get a chance to grow in their knowledge of the Lord but will also put into practice what they are being taught by ministering Christ to each other as they submit to the Lord’s will. Looking to serve in ministry opportunities as a group is another goal.

Accountability

Accountability is an essential means of grace that helps us make sure we are walking with Christ in our corporate and individual lives. In the life of a small group, accountability is fostered by each member helping each other develop in the areas of prayer, Bible reading, worship, and service. Accountability is simply giving an account of how we are doing spiritually in an environment of trust and confidentiality.

Spiritual Goals

Small groups members are encouraged to have and develop spiritual goals. Members in the small group will ask how each other is doing in terms of meeting such goals. Each member will be encouraged to hold other members up in prayer.

Commitment

Without commitment a small group will not last. Group members will not be able to meet every time but will be expected to meet as often as they can by making the group a strong focus and priority in their lives. Most groups meet twice a month. We are looking for members to commit to a particular group for a full year at least (Sept – June)

Variety

A group that consists of a variety of individuals who come from different circumstances, backgrounds and viewpoints is encouraged. Group members will be helped to appreciate the perspectives of others and have their own viewpoints challenged/sharpened through healthy discussion and prayer. All group members will be treated equally and with the highest respect, while maintaining a strong commitment to Biblical integrity and truth.

When We Meet

Small Groups typically meet twice a month at a time and place that is most convenient to those attending.
